Standard

Use of geospatial information by wider audience and across applications creates a need for standards to ensure the reliability and effectiveness of the services that depends on the information. To ensure that geospatial information can be shared with the current, there is a need of standardization in various aspects of data that must be met to support data sharing between suppliers and users of geospatial data. In data sharing and exchange, there are three (3) types of geospatial-related standards; contents standards, access standards and exchange standards.

Contents standards include land parcel identifier, features and attributes code catalogue and geographic place names. Access standards take into account standards in data communication such as ISO 19100 series for geographic information. Exchange standards include XML and GML.
